It is reported that the StructurSensor series is a portable 3D sensor specially designed for iOS devices. Since the first ST01 was launched in 2014, it has been used in many scenarios, including scanning patient limbs (only a few minutes), customizing orthopaedic machinery and prosthetic limbs, and in industrial design, construction and other scenarios. With IMU sensors and higher resolution, Mark II can support better 3D spatial perception and provide better 3D experience for ARKit applications.。

Some of the components previously used in ST01 were provided by PrimeSense, and this major update should have something to do with Apple's acquisition of PrimeSense. It is reported that Occipital almost redesigned Mark II by using the experience of developing ST01. The 3D capture scheme used in sensing changed from the original structured light to the active three-dimensional one, and the effect was good enough in sunlight. Optical elements mainly include a pair of infrared sensors and a laser projector. Infrared sensors can capture high-precision data by using global shutter. Laser projector supports high contrast, brings larger scanning range and double depth resolution, more details can be seen, and is safer for human eyes.。

It is understood that Mark II is smaller in size, 38% thinner and 31% lighter in weight than the previous generation. In addition, Mark II uses the optimized Structural SDK to achieve higher quality 3D scanning, support environment mapping, 6DoF tracking and other functions.。

At present, Mark II has opened pre-sale, and will start shipment in August. Mark II is not suitable for Android devices, but Structural CORE supports Android, Windows, Linus, MacOS and other operating systems. It claims to be comparable to the sensor module of HoloLens, and its official website sells for $399.。
